What can I say? Here we have another brand new Hostess No35 made from scratch at our workshops here in Bristol. This one is going into newly restored 1930s Showmans van. What a beauty!

Brand new Hostess No35!!!
Here’s something a bit special! This is a Hostess No35 we have made from scratch for a client. We only take on a few of these a year as they are such a lot of work to get them right. The client chose ‘Northern county blue’ for the colour of his enamel and I got to say it looks stunning!

Hostess Mahogany fronted coal draws
Here we have our new mahogany fronted coal draws for the Hostess Range. These are exactly as the ones supplied by Mellors of Oldham in the early 20th century. The only difference being that our versions have stainless steel draws.

A Belle Portable in France
How nice is this? We restored this pretty little Belle Portable a while ago now and sent it to France. It is now in use and earning its keep in a restored French cottage.

Briffault range installed
We restored this lovely little Briffault range last year and finally got a chance to install it last week. It lit up and pulled beautifully and I’m sure will keep this little cottage nice and snug whilst proving hot tea and baked spuds!

Conservation of a Mortimer range
This fantastic late 19th c ‘Mortimer’ range manufactured by Hattersley Bros of Rotherham was in a very unstable condition when we first visited sited. 18th c kitchen basement that it was set in had suffered from terrible damp and as a result the iron had degraded significantly. After careful conservation work carried out by our team it is not stabilized and preserved for future generations. It also certainly adds some character to this lovely snug of a room!

“Guidwife” Portable Range
I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for these Guidwife ranges. There’s just something about the simple yet traditional design that really works and they have a few nice features like a flip up toaster. This one was supplied by us and has been fitted in a historic living van in Yorkshire.

Belle Portable range restored
Belle Portable ranges such as these were the most prolific of their type and were manufactured well into the mid 20th century. Whilst the iron founding arm of the company has since been retired the company of Jones & Campbell is still are large concern in Scotland and has been in family ownership for well over 100 years

1890s ‘DUX’ Closed range restored and available for sale
This is a very nice ‘DUX’ closed range that came from a large Victorian villa in Redland, Bristol. It has been fully restored in our workshops and comes with the original cast iron surround it was fitted with. This range has done a life time of work but thanks to our team its ready for another! Grate restoration at Hinton House
We completed the restoration and installation of the huge Gold Medal Eagle Range at Hinton House a while ago now but we were asked back to site to attend to the multitude of grates in the bedrooms and living spaces of the manor. Below are a few of the nicer examples we restored for the client including a lovely circa 1800 Coalbrookdale forest pattern hob grate, a regency engraved and polish steel trim and a collection of matching late 19th century register grates.
