  • Back cabin stove for narrowboat ‘Dane’

Back cabin stove for narrowboat ‘Dane’

    [siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Panels_Widgets_Image”][/siteorigin_widget]

Here are some patterns that I have prepared this week for a back cabin stove in the narrowboat ‘Dane’ (1909). The stove is incredibly rare these days but would have once been found in most of the motor boats of the early 20th century.
I am doing a lot of work to this range at present so further updates will follow.

  • Larbert for Duntons Showmans van

    Larbert for Duntons Showmans van

Here we have some of the remains of the a (once) lovely little 20″ Larbert range that once lived in a early 20th c Duntons showmans wagon. The wagon itself is extremely rare and is currently under going restoration.
The range is a real mess and has been left with soot and damp in it since the 1960’s hence the condition of the parts in the pictures. There is some extensive pattern making to do to get this little range back together again but it is not beyond hope. I hope to have this range fit for service early in the new year so watch this space.

Here we have a fantastic Cornish Range that came into stock recently. These ranges are some of my favourites so when they come up for sale I always go for them. This one is particularly nice as it has an excess of brass ornamentation. The amount of brass on your range represented your status so this must have come from a fairly well off cottager family.
These ranges are unique to Cornwall and rarely found elsewhere.
Do get in touch if you are intertested in this range as I doubt it will be around for long!

This nice littel 24″ Guidwife back cabin stove just came into stock. They were commonly found in the back cabins of working narrowboats. We manufacture the correct type of fiddle rail and this will be refitted to the range during restoration. If you are interested please do get in touch since these stoves don’t come up very often!

  • New (old) stock

Just a quick post to show some new stock. A lovelly little 24″ Beetonette (Carron Co) that may be marinised for use in a narrowboat and a very rare 22″ Norlond Belle (Belle Portable, Jones & Campbell).

  • Replica 1840s ‘Midland’ range

    Replica 1840s ‘Midland’ range

    [siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Panels_Widgets_Image”][/siteorigin_widget]

I was recently asked to find a specific example of a ‘Midlands’ range. After much searching we sadly could not find something the correct size for the gentlemans chimney recess. We decided then to make one! Here is a picture from the early stages of the project showing a scale drawing of what we plan to acheive. The sham plates and bars placed around are originals for reference. Next stage is to cut the sham plates from 1/2″ ply to start work on the patterns. The range will eventually measure 43″ across and will comprise of original oven and boiler.
We suspect it will be the first range of its type to be cast since around 1850!

  • “Nipper”!

Here is a little “Nipper” that came in this week for restoration. It is having a new top plate and new flue box as well as the more general restoration work. The cream mottled enamel is in pretty good order and will be kept. This is a very nice example of a rare sought after stove and it was found at a car boot sale for £25 would you beleive!

Don’t forget O.J.Osborne & Co manufacture brand new “Nipper” stoves and they are available for £1500 in black lead finish. Enamelled finish is also available but please get in touch for a quote.
